Silver City Fest x Harmonic Harvest

Art Initiatives, Blog, Events, Newsletter, Weaving Silver Linings

Since launching in November of 2023, Harmonic Harvest’s mission has been tied to connecting with local events and initiatives that help create belonging, channel creativity, and spark conversations. At Silver City Fest, these were just some of the impacts that HH supported, starting with local partnerships and ultimately coming to life through community members.

Silver City Fest, organized by VIA Community Development Corporation (VIA CDC), is an outdoor celebration of the historic and vibrant Silver City neighborhood in Milwaukee. Located just south of Three Bridges Park, the area holds a row of lively restaurants and businesses and is home to a diverse array of communities. [1]

Each year in September, Silver City Fest lights up National Avenue with live music, dance groups, a wide range of food, and local art. By inviting the rest of the city to come and experience the vibrancy of the Silver City neighborhood, this event brings different Milwaukeeians into a space of genuine connection and joy, helping to nurture local bonds. [1]

Harmonic Harvest was first introduced to VIA CDC by our partners at Radio Milwaukee. Unable to attend Silver City Fest, they offered us their table spot as a way to meet neighborhood leaders and introduce the organization to a new audience. This example of the strong, fluid network that Milwaukee thrives on allowed HH the perfect opportunity to organically engage with the event and local community.

Ready to offer event attendees a unique experience at the festival – HH’s Founder, President and CEO – Jenna Washuleski set up the organization’s signature Renaissance Threads Workshop (RTW) at Radio Milwaukee’s spot. At the Workshop, participants of all ages were able to create art without boundaries or expectations and take a moment to reflect on the things that bring them joy, comfort, or strength. To learn more about the RTW program or participate yourself, visit our workshop page today!

The impact of Harmonic Harvest’s work at Silver City Fest was felt by the many families and individuals who took part in the workshop, shared their stories, and connected with fellow community members at the workshop table. With its focus on creativity and thoughtfulness, the Renaissance Threads Workshop also gave attendees the opportunity to reflect on what ties them to their neighborhood, social networks, and more.

The two themes that arose most often for participants of the Silver City Fest workshop were family and friends, revealing the far-reaching importance of human connection and support systems for all. Music, nature, and health were also recurring topics that came for people as examples of what they rely on during challenging moments.

Overall, there were 30 participants in the Silver City Fest Renaissance Threads Workshop, whose artworks were all brought to HH’s Headquarters to be woven together into a “tapestry of silver linings.”

The tapestry is now complete and will be displayed at this year’s festival on September 12, 2026, from 12 to 5 PM, which we welcome you to come visit and see it in person!

Until then, stories and artworks can also be viewed by volunteering at our Atelier, where the event scrapbook is shaped by community members like you. To learn more about volunteering at our Third Ward-based creative space, check out our current opportunities.

Ultimately, the event successfully brought together different groups into a gathering of culture and community, and Harmonic Harvest was honored to contribute by hosting the Renaissance Threads Workshop for attendees. Time and spaces for true community connection are integral to human wellbeing but can feel hard to find, so we are committed to supporting organizations like VIA CDC’s ability to produce even Silver City Fest.

The culture of connection starts at the local level, and those sparks of belonging and empathy amongst neighbors can then spread to families, schools, workplaces, and more. Harmonic Harvest’s mission was brought to life at Silver City Fest, strengthening the community through social enrichment.

To support Harmonic Harvest’s efforts, please consider making a donation, or coming by our headquarters in the Marshall Building! This is where our Fundraising Marketplace, Atelier, and Renaissance Threads creative workshop live.

Whether you are interested in volunteering, creating or shopping, we will be happy to see you.
