Art Initiatives: “Connective Storytelling and Manifested Poetry” – MIAD x HH

Art Initiatives, The Latest, Weaving Silver Linings

I had the incredible opportunity to mentor for the Gener8tor Art Fall Cohort (@gener8torart), where I connected with the amazing Morgan Chandler Bouldes (@morganchandlerbouldes), a professor at MIAD (@miadcollege), located just down the street from us in the Third Ward.

Who is Morgan?

“Morgan Chandler Bouldes is an Educator, Interdisciplinary Artist, and Writer. Presently, her thoughts are heavily centered around the invisible web & connective tissue of humankind that are shared experience & emotion. The foundation of her practice is deeply rooted in sharing her personal narrative through experimental storytelling. Her works include, but are not limited to: photography, performance, film, audio & spoken and written word, installation, and quilting. Embracing the Ethereal, she meditates heavily on connectedness, spiritual identity, ancestry & the passing of time.

Morgan is a recent graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art, obtaining an MFA in Photography as well as holding a BFA in Photography from Wayne State University. In 2021 she was a recipient of the AICAD Post-Graduate Teaching Fellowship. Following her 2-year term as a Teaching Fellow, she now serves as a full-time faculty member at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.”

Morgan and I instantly resonated, and when she told me about her class, “Connective Storytelling and Manifested Poetry” it felt like the perfect fit for HH’s Renaissance Threads workshop!

I was so honored to visit her class before the semester ended, hear her students’ powerful Silver Lining Stories, and watch their creative minds at work on fabric.

Thank you, Morgan, for welcoming us into such a meaningful space. It was truly an honor to collaborate with you and your class! Moments like these amplify the power of storytelling and art to weave connections.
